Six days post-shoot and I am finally able to sit down and let you all know that the filming day was a success. Hooray! Of course, I have since thought of various ways I would have done things differently, but that’s hopefully just me being hard on myself, and I am sure that the editing room will make magic happen.
It was a really hard day. I had to perform challenging exercises for about 6+ hours, off and on, while at the same time cheerily talking to the camera, trying to be myself and quell any nerves I was feeling. At any given moment, I had 3-4 people surrounding me — the makeup person powdering my face, the sound guy fixing my mike, the producer giving me an instruction; the stylist rolling lint off my pants. This was definitely a new experience for me, and after the initial anxiety dissipated, I have to say I kinda liked being in front of the camera.
One thing that made the day so much more manageable was having my rock star client and friend, Sarah, with me. She was one of the model moms practicing the exercises alongside me on the video, and was my cheerleader all day.
Who knows — now that I have had my first “on camera moment,” I may just have to make 2013 the year that I start my own Move It Momma video channel.
